Senior Machine Learning Engineer

General Purpose

We are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer who wants to use Artificial Intelligence to fix a broken healthcare system for the benefit of all. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in machine learning frameworks, experience working with healthcare data, and the ability to build scalable AI-driven solutions. You thrive in a collaborative environment, working cross-functionally to develop and deploy cutting-edge models that enhance billing accuracy, identify fraud, and contribute to new AI-powered products.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Build and optimize end-to-end machine learning pipelines for data ingestion, model training, validation, and deployment.
  • Develop and optimize feature extraction methods to improve model performance and robustness.
  • Design scalable Machine Learning (ML) pipelines integrating Object Character Recognition (OCR) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies.
  • Develop and deploy machine learning models for billing automation, cost prediction, and new product development.
  • Develop APIs and microservices to enable seamless integration of AI models into existing business applications.
  • Develop automated testing frameworks for ML models and integrate them into pipelines for seamless model deployment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, sales, technology, operations, bill review, etc.) to align AI solutions with business goals.
  • Optimize model performance through feature engineering and fine-tuning.
  • Implement techniques to improve transparency in AI decision-making, ensuring traceability and model explainability.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare data regulations (e.g. HIPPA, HiTrust, etc.).

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Machine Learning (ML) model development and deployment.
  • Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow/PyTorch, and cloud platforms (AWS or similar).
  • Expertise in designing and deploying NLP / OCR solutions for text extraction and processing.
  • Experience with MLOps best practices for production-ready solutions.
  • Strong understanding of database systems (mostly SQL) to support ML workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to deploy ML models as scalable APIs using Flask, FastAPI, or similar frameworks.
  • Awareness of HIPPA, GDPR, and other healthcare specific regulations related to AI.
  • Most importantly, you are curious and rebel against dogma.
