Senior Data Scientist

General Purpose

We are looking for an AI-focused Data Scientist who wants to use Artificial Intelligence to fix a broken healthcare system for the benefit of all. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing (NLP), with a focus on automation and innovation in the medical reimbursement field. You thrive in a collaborative environment, working cross-functionally to develop and deploy cutting-edge models that enhance billing accuracy, identify fraud, and contribute to new AI-powered products.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, train, and tune AI models to enhance bill accuracy, cost efficiency, and new product development.
  • Develop automated pipelines for data ingestion, normalization, and transformation to ensure high-quality inputs for machine learning models.
  • Perform data preprocessing and visualization for 1) use in AI models and 2) storytelling of our data.
  • Identify trends, opportunities for AI-driven improvements, and ways to create a ‘learning loop.’
  • Design and implement Natural Language Processing (NLP) models to extract meaningful insights from unstructured healthcare data.
  • Collaborate with machine learning engineers to deploy and monitor AI models in products.
  • Build generative AI tools (off the shelf or proprietary) to assist with medical billing and report writing.
  • Assist with conducting controlled experiments and A/B tests to validate model performance and business impact.
  • Clearly document methodologies, model assumptions, and analytical insights for reproducibility and compliance.
  • Establish best practices for data collection, storage, usage, and ensuring compliance with healthcare data regulations (e.g. HIPPA, HiTrust, etc.).

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field, preferably in healthcare applications.
  • Proficiency in Python and ML libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
  • Hands-on experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques (e.g., text classification, NER< OCR).
  • Expertise in predictive modeling techniques such as ARIMA, LSTMs, or Prophet for trend analysis and forecasting.
  • Familiarity with deploying AI models on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS or similar).
  • Solid understanding of MLOps principles for model deployment and lifecycle management.
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience working with large-scale structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to drive AI initiatives from concept to production.
  • Most importantly, you are curious and rebel against dogma.
